Privacy Policy

What DevOps Compass collects, why, and how it's handled. Last updated August 2026.

What information is collected

DevOps Compass is a static site — there are no user accounts, no logins, and no paywalled content. You can read every article without providing any personal information. Two things on this site do involve data:

Newsletter signup. If you subscribe using the form on the homepage, we collect the email address you provide. This is handled through MailerLite, our email service provider. We use it solely to send you new troubleshooting guides and comparisons when they're published. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email we send.

Basic site analytics. Like most websites, standard server and hosting logs (via Netlify, our hosting provider) may record anonymised information such as page requests, browser type, and approximate location derived from IP address. This is aggregate technical data used to understand traffic patterns — it isn't tied to your identity.

What we do — and don't do — with your data

Your email address is used only to send the newsletter you signed up for. We do not sell, rent, or share subscriber email addresses with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not run behavioural ad targeting or build advertising profiles.

Some articles on this site contain affiliate links to tools or services we've used and think are genuinely useful. If you click through and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes what we recommend — see our Affiliate Disclosure for the full policy.

Services this site relies on

DevOps Compass is a static site hosted on Netlify, which provides standard web server logs as part of hosting. Newsletter signups are processed by MailerLite, which has its own privacy policy governing how it stores and processes subscriber data. We recommend reviewing MailerLite's privacy policy directly if you have questions about how they handle your email address once you subscribe.

This site does not use third-party advertising networks, tracking pixels, or cross-site behavioural tracking cookies.

Your rights over your data

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time — every email includes an unsubscribe link, and doing so removes your email address from MailerLite. If you'd like your subscriber data deleted outright rather than just unsubscribed, or if you have any other question about how your data is handled, reach out to Arctica (the team behind DevOps Compass) and we'll action it.

This policy may be updated occasionally as the site evolves — for example if we add new tools or services. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "last updated" date at the top.
